The Magolan laboratory engages in hit-to-lead synthetic medicinal chemistry. We synthesize small focused libraries of compounds based on hits identified via high-throughput antimicrobial screening campaigns. In collaboration with biologists, we employ iterative hypothesis-driven approaches to optimize efficacy and desirable pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds in order to enable their advancement to further stages of the drug development process.
