“When you participate in the SteelTown Climb, you are stepping up to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by lung disease.” – The Lung Association Ontario
The IIDR’s Dr. Dawn Bowdish – McMaster professor, researcher, and healthy lung advocate – is currently raising money in support of The Lung Association Ontario by participating in the Steeltown Stairclimb.
With 1 in 5 Ontarians living with lung disease, The Lung Association Ontario supports the cutting-edge research, community programs, and advocacy efforts that help make Ontario a better place to breathe.
The Lung Association Ontario has been an active support for lung health and lung infection research within Dr. Bowdish’s lab at McMaster University. Dr. Bowdish, who holds a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Aging & Immunity, investigates how changes in the immune system of older adults and vulnerable populations predispose them to pneumonia infection. With continued support such as that from The Lung Association Ontario, Bowdish aims to develop novel preventative and therapeutic strategies that reduce the burden of pneumonia.
