We may soon have ‘no useful antibiotics left’

Dr. Lori Burrows, IIDR member and Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University says in a CTV News interview that we are “getting to the point where we have no useful antibiotics left.”

For CTV News, IIDR’s Dr. Eric Brown and Dr. Lori Burrows weigh in on the World Health Organization’s new list of 12 priority pathogens, a reminder that the world is “getting to the point where we have no useful antibiotics left.”

The list was created to encourage both governments and the private sector to invest in more research and development of new antibiotics that could tackle the bacteria that are posing the biggest threat to global health.
